Guinea pig limping after nail quick cut and a fall. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I accidentally cut the quick of my Guinea pigs nail while clipping them 2 hours ago, and he then squirmed out of my arms and landed on the floor on his back. He's been eating since, and can walk, but I think he's limping very slightly on the paw with the cut quick.

Accidents happen. Everyone cuts a quick on occasion and animals often seem sensitive for a short time afterwards, and some even limp slightly for a few hours. As long as Rubix continues eating and acting normally, and the limp resolves in a few hours, I wouldn't worry much about the fall. However, if the limp continues or Rubix has any other changes, please take him to his vet to have his back and legs examined.
