My new eagle won't eat. Do wild birds of prey refuse dead food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hi, I am from Bangladesh. I have bought this eagle today. I am not sure of his age and weight but he is at the size of an adult chicken. The problem is, I have given him one fourth of a pigeon and a piece of fish, he didnt touch anything. What should I do?

Eagles are raptors and therefore kill their food with their feet. A healthy eagle will typically not eat anything that is already dead, so it is unlikely that you are going to be able to keep this bird in captivity. Please release it so that it can live in the wild and kill its own food, as it is accustomed to doing.
