My cat has Epidermolysis bullosa. Treatments & life expectancy?

Our 9 month old Tonkinese has been diagnosed with Epidermolysis bullosa. What treatments are available and what is the life expectancy of this condition? Thanks Judith

Hi Judith, I'm very sorry to hear that Bryce received this diagnosis. There are several different forms of epidermolysis bullosa, but all are eventually fatal. Management is generally acheived by controlling pain and secondary infections in the skin, but some gene therapies have been studied. I believe that the life expectancy can vary widely for each individual. For further treatment recommendations, I would strongly recommend consulting a board certified veterinary dermatologist. I'm sorry you are having to go through this.
