A dog of any age can eat foreign objects. Puppies are notoriously the culprits, but plenty of senior dogs eat inappropriate objects too. The first sign of a gastrointestinal obstruction/blockage is generally vomiting, but can also include lethargy and inappetance. Obstructions are life threatening emergencies, so be sure to contact your vet ASAP if you are concerned about your dog.
