Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 2 years and 4 months old | 20 lbs

I wanted to know if you could tell me an idea of whats going on with my cat. Hes 2yrs old a little overweight & he's started acting different recently. My 1yr old cat has allergies so I am used to him sneezing but my 2yr old cat starting sneezing a little so it caught me off guard because he never does and he also started coughing a bit like he wants to spit out a hairball or vomit but nothing comes out. Today I picked him up to put him on the couch and gooey clear liquid came out of his mouth

Poor Neptune! He could be suffering from dental problems, a respiratory infection, or allergies. All of these could cause the sneezing and drooling. I would have Neptune seen by a vet tomorrow for a physical exam, blood tests, and urinalysis. With these tests, the vet can diagnose what is causing his sneezing and drooling, and can discuss treatment options with you. If, for example, he had dental problems, then he would benefit from a dental cleaning, scaling, and polishing.
