My boxer collapsed, rear legs paralyzed. Is vet's steroid plan best?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | unneutered | 8 years and 10 months old | 100 lbs

My 100 lb 8 year old boxer - collapsed yesterday and appears to be paralyzed only in his rear legs - vet claims possible rear limb paresis and wants to treat by keeping in the hospital treat with steriods prednisone Tramadol for pain and physical therapy for the next 3 days - does this sound like the best direction to go at this time

I'm so sorry Tank collapsed yesterday! I do think it's a good plan to keep him in the hospital. The steroids can help reduce any inflammation as well as giving pain relief in combination with the tramadol. I recommend following your vet's direction. Good luck, I hope Tank feels better soon!
