My cat shows pulmonary edema signs. Are natural treatments safe?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years and 5 months old

Hi there, could you recommend the best natural treatment for pulmonary edema in a cat? I'm hoping to find something that works fast and is safe. I am having trouble finding vets in my area who will diagnose my cat,he is showing signs of a potentially life threatening heart conditions but vets here haven't been thorough enough to diagnose it. I'm hoping to find something to relieve the edema fast, if you can help!

Unfortunately, there is no natural treatment for pulmonary edema in cats. I also would not recommend giving your cat any medication to treat it unless Richie has been specifically diagnosed by a vet. You can do serious harm to your cat if you try to self treat him for a condition he may not have. In order to diagnose pulmonary edema in a cat, Richie needs to have blood tests and an x-ray of his chest. I would speak to a vet about having x-rays done to diagnose if he does have pulmonary edema or not, and the vet can then prescribe treatment for him if he does.
