My chihuahua whimpers with a bone and shoves it in my face. Why?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 5 years and 5 months old | 13 lbs

Why does my chihuahua "Bella" whimper every time she has her bone in her mouth and is constantly in my face while doing that ? If she is chewing it she is fine.

When dogs have a toy or item they especially love, they can whimper as a sign of excitement when they are carrying the toy around. Bella may be putting it your face as a sign that she wants you to play with her and it. I suggest playing with her and it when she comes up to whimpering to you :-)
