Is shearing a German Shepherd safe and effective for shedding?

Good night! I have a german shepard which leaves loads of hair through the house. I was wondering if its ok to take him to a petshop to cut his hair or it will not solve the problem at all? Is it ok to get him sheared?

Evening! Yes, it's absolutely fine to take him to have him sheared. GSDs have a thick undercoat, and they can shed a lot. I have a Chow Chow, another breed with a thick undercoat, and I get her shaved as well to make her cooler and cut down on the shedding in my home. Go for it :-)
