Why is my 4-month-old puppy's tummy turning black and spreading?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | | 1.55 lbs

hi, My 4 month old puppy's tummy seems to be changing colour the last number of days. His tummy was pink, but it's slowly turning grey/black in places and it seems to be spreading. At first I thought it may be dirt but I bathed him and it's still there and appears darker again today. Should I be concerned about this? There doesn't seem to be any change in his behaviour and he's eating normally. Thanks in advance!

This may be a natural pigment change as he develops or may be related to a skin irritation such as from demodex mites or a yeast infection. If there is no heat, discomfort or itching of the area continue to monitor closely - your vet or vet nurse could take a look to put your mind at ease and advise if any investigation or treatment is recommended
