Dog threw up blood after eating grapes & induced vomiting. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 4 days old | 4 lbs

My less than 5 pounds dog ate more than 3 grapes Friday night, we induced vomiting immediately after. She's been fine until this morning, she threw up. There was Peanut in her throw up and a little red in the saliva. She was eating peanut butter last night. I read something about administering activated charcoal but since it's already been 2 days, is it too late for that? And should I be worried about the throw up?

It is too late for activated charcoal, and I am concerned about the red in her vomit. That's because it's a sign of bleeding in the GI tract. I don't recommend inducing vomiting at home, as the substance used to induce vomiting, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), can and does cause gastritis and esophagitis often worse than the initial problem. It could be that Cookie is suffering from those if you induced vomiting with H2O2. I would have her seen by a vet right away, as she may need gut protectants if there was damage done to her GI tract from the H2O2.
