My 8-week-old kitten is very weak and not eating. Will he make it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Will kitten survive? My 8 week old rescue spent 3 days at the vet for dehydration. He lost a ton of weight and is very weak. He was eating well since i got him back ( hills critical care) finished a can in 4 days. Since yesterday he wasnt eating by himself anymore and seemed even weaker. Not grooming. Just sleeping ( kept his eyes open) I took him back to the vet this morning and he was put back on a drip. What are his chances realisticly?

I am so sorry your little kitten isn't doing well! His chances of survival honestly depend on the cause of his symptoms and his response to treatment. It's good that he was eating well but it is concerning that he then went downhill again. You have done exactly the right thing by bringing him back to the vet, and he will be in the best care possible with vet giving him the greatest chance of survival. I really hope he survives, good luck!
