Hello, Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. My dog a maltese/shih tzu mix, 3 years old, weighing about 9.5 pounds. After being exposed to some cold weather he has developed a dry unproductive cough, which occurs infrequently. He is still eating and has energy. Should I wait and see if he gets better, treat with at home remedies, wait until Monday for my regular vet to open, or bring him to an animal hospital? I am just looking for guidance to get him the best care. Thanks

If he is still eating and playful, an emergency vet visit should not be necessary. I recommend monitoring him for 48hours or so, if becoming more frequent a trip to your regular vet would be advised. A small amount of honey can help to soothe the throat and is naturally antiseptic so may provide some relief for Shepherd
