My African grey chewed a pen, has ink, and is throwing up. What to do?

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female | 1 year and 10 months old

My African grey got hold of a bic ink pen. She chewed it up. The plastic and the nib are with me but she has ink on her feet, chest and beak. She threw up a couple of times. What can i do? Vet is not available till Monday.

This type of ink is not toxic unless ingested in large quantities. The greater concern is if Jasmine ingested any plastic bits. Wipe her beak and feet as best as you can. Monitor for lethargy or loss of appetite. If she continues to vomit or regurgitate, have her seen at the nearest veterinary ER. You can also call your local animal poison control hotline.
