My maltipoo received his Rabies vaccine last November and has recently developed a patch of alopecia at the injection site. Do you feel it would help to give pentoxifylline in order to try to get fur to grow back? I know that it can be permanent, but I feel that I should try to do something to encourage hair growth. If there are any other suggestions I would very much appreciate any other advise. Thank you.

I would not give him pentoxifylline. This drug is used in dogs to increase blood flow to areas not getting enough blood, and to promote healing and decrease inflammation caused by skin ulcers. It is not used to help fur grow back. You can try giving him fish oil supplements, which can promote healthy skin and fur, but ultimately there's not much you can do to make the fur grow back. It either will or it won't. If you want to try the fish oil supplements, your dog can get 1,000mg containing 300 mg of EPA/DHA combined for every 30 pounds of body. weight.
