No, these supplements can contain ingredients that are not safe for dogs, and really have no proven efficacy. Urine burns on the law from Rufus's urine could be caused by a poor quality diet. Try feeding him a high quality diet that contains higher quality and more digestible proteins such as Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, or Purina ProPlan. You can also try to make his urine more dilute by increasing his water intake by feeding him canned food or soaking his dry food with water.

As long as you follow the manufacturers guidelines it is likely fine. However most OTC products are not effective. A better way to prevent lawn spots is the dilute/water the areas your pet urinates on to help with the urine pH effecting the grass.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Athena. I do not recommend these products. They typically work by altering the pH of the dog's urine to prevent the staining of the lawn. However, changing the urinary pH can predispose the dog to bladder stones. The safest options are to train her to urinate elsewhere such as on rocks or mulch. You can always watch to see where she urinates and pour water on the area immediately afterwards. This dilutes the urine and helps to protect the lawn. I hope this information helps!
