My dog has a fluid lump at the spay incision site. Is it a seroma?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Staffordshire Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 15.8 lbs

Just had a 2.5 year old staffy bitch spayed and she has developed a liquid mass at the operation site, what could be the cause?

It could be that Dana has a seroma, which is a pocket of fluid that forms in empty space. This can be caused by too much activity after surgery. I would have her seen by a vet first thing in the morning. If it is a seroma, it may need to be sterilely drained.
