Can my dog get arthritis from sleeping on a hard floor or cement?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 5 months old | 70 lbs

My dog is a short breed and has a lot of furr and gets really hot in warm days.Im worried that he sleeps on cement and floor even though he has a bed and a box. Some people tell me that he will get athiritis or something like that.He always slept on hard floor since he was a puppy and his legs are just fine and he never got a cold from sleeping on hard floor. Please tell me if something can happen to him or not.

It's perfectly fine for Toby to sleep on the bare floor if he wants to - many dogs prefer this to dog beds or blankets, especially when the weather is hot or if they have long hair. This will not cause any problems at all :)
