Can I use copper sulfate in my pond if my dogs drink the water?

The algae the copper sulfate treats is far more dangerous to your dogs than copper sulfate. Dogs develop algae poisoning when they drink form contaminated water sources. The algae produce toxins that affect the dog's internal organs, and depending on the concentration of algae in the dog's stomach, the animal can die immediately or succumb later from a variety of symptoms. There are no reports that I know of that states the low levels of copper sulfate diluted in the water will adversely affect the dogs. Be careful to follow recommendations for treatment closely.
