Ear mite treatment is not particularly expensive, and you can purchase the treatment over the counter at a pet store for around $10. However, the best recommendation is that you visit your vet in order to confirm the diagnosis with a test called an ear cytology. This usually costs between $25 and $40, depending on where you live, and will tell you for sure if the debris in your pet's ears is caused by ear mites and not something else, like yeast or bacteria. Using the ear miticide without getting an exact diagnosis will prolong effective treatment if it turns out that mites aren't the problem.

    I typically use a product called Tresaderm for ear mite infestations. I see it listed on 1800petmeds.com for $35, but you will need a prescription for it, and you'll likely pay an exam fee, which will vary depending on your vet's pricing policies, and also for a test to confirm that ear mites are indeed the problem. I'm not aware of any home remedies that work for definitively treating and ear mite infestation.

    Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. Otodectes cynotis is the most common ear mite seen in cats. Revolution for cats and also Tresaderm are medications commonly used to treat ear mites in cats. If you have not had Pazoo examined yet and are wanting to know the cost for an initial workup of ear mites, I would say that the price to expect would be somewhere between $100-150 but this range varies depending on where you are at what clinics charge for services. My dog has one red ear and he is scratching both ear now. How if it's a yeast infection or a war mite, how much do you think is going to cost to treat that?
Hi, it appears your dog has an ear infection, most commonly a yeast infection in his ears. You will need to pay for an initial exam for him, then ear medication and possibly a cleaner. You will need an antibiotic ointment to put into the canals. The cost of this varies from location and from vet hospital. You should call around different hospitals and see what their fees are. If you are looking for a low cost clinic, you can search for one in your area that may be able to help. The ASPCA is NYC is a low cost clinic that you can try calling. In your area, an exam varies from around $60-80 and the medication is about $30-40. This is at a regular vet. Also, the humane society in NYC does low cost care as well. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Ok so my pet bunny has ear mites and I got a answer already for another question I asked she said that since it’s so severe they’ll have to sedate him and give him a 14 day injection so I want to know how much will it cost to be prepared also he does
Poor Baby! I wish I could tell yo I exactly how much it will cost but since cost varies for different areas and different clinics, I would recommend you to call the vet you plan to use and ask them for an estimate for an exam, possible ear cytology if needed, sedation if needed and an ivermectin injection if it is ear mites. They should be able to give you a rough estimate over the phone but I would also ask them to give you a more exact estimate after the exam as sometimes treatment changes after the exam. Finally, if it is too expensive then I would ask if there are any other options that are a little cheaper. The vet may be able to give other options, but not always. I hope this helps!

My dog has earmites and I have been treating him with over the counter medication. It doesn't appear to be getting better, what can I do? How much will it cost me?
You will need to take Noah to the vet, there are some excellent prescription products to treat ear mites with 100% success, this should not cost much either just the price of the consultation and the ear mite treatment (probably under 100$).

I know for sure my dog has ear mites. By the dark brown mater clusters n his ears, the way he goes nuts when u rub them and by how he is scratching nd rubbing his head on everything. I need to know what I can use that I don't have to pay a over $3.0
Unlike cats (in which ear mites are very common), ear mites are not commonly diagnosed in dogs. When they are diagnosed, it is commonly in dogs that live in an unkempt area, in puppies with poor immune systems, or dogs with other diseases. The symptoms your describe can easily be seen in dogs with yeast ear infections. Mites need to be killed with appropriate insecticides, and there are no home remedies that are safe and guaranteed to work. I suggest saving a few more dollars to spend on actual medication that will treat ear mites. You might call local animal shelters, rescue groups, or animal charities in your area to inquire about low-cost options or financial assistance in treating Indica.

I purchased a cat from someone of facebook and the cat had ear mites. I bought medication over the counter and something to clean it with and I use it for a week now. and it's not working. I think she has to go to the vet but I can't afford the cost

How can I tell the difference between dirty ear and ear mites ? Also is it possible to have ear mites in one ear and not the other? Also my dog has had ear mites before, is it ok to put his ear mites medication if I suspect he has it again? I can't
The only way to know for sure if Hunter has a dirty ear or ear mites is to look at a sample of the debris in his ear on a slide under a microscope. It is possible to have an ear mite infection in just one ear and not the other. No, it's not safe to put his ear mite medication in his ears again without having it confirmed that he does have ear mites. It's never recommended to self treat your animal, and it's never recommend to treat them without knowing the exact cause of their symptoms. In both cases, you may accidentally do harm to your dog, and make the problem much worse. I'm not sure why you can't go to your vet to check, but if it's due to finances, I can give you some resources that may help you afford a vet for Hunter. You can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. There is also an organization called Red Rover that give grants for treatment of sick animals, and you can see if you qualify

Your cat may have an ear infection or Earmites. This really should be seen by a vet to get the correct treatment. Try cleaning her ears with a solution of 50% water/50% white vinegar. Moisten a cotton ball and wipe only the visible portion of the ear. DO NOT push the cotton ball down into the ear canal, and DO NOT fill the ear canal with liquid, this can cause nerve damage. This may make her feel a little more comfortable, but probably won't cure her condition. If you are in financial difficulty, there are ways of still getting your pet treated by a veterinarian. Ask if they take Care Credit and apply online. This is a credit card that is used specifically for medical, dental, and veterinary expenses. Unfortunately, ear mites are treated with a prescription from your vet, and your vet will need to confirm mites by looking at the ears under a scope. If you can't get to your vet, seeing if one does house call services, or getting a friend to give you a ride is best. Ear mites can be transmitted back and forth between pets as well, so if you have more that one pet, treating everyone at once can help ensure they are taken care of. Keeping the ears clean and dry and preventing Daisy from scratching at them can also help until you can get to your vet.
