My dog is peeing blood days after spay surgery. Should I call the vet?

My dog had a spay surgery 5 days ago. Now there is a few spots of blood in urine. Do I need to take her back to vet

You should call the vet and give him/her an update so they know what is going on with your dog. Your vet may want to see her or just ask you to bring in a urine sample to check for an infection. If she has a urinary tract infection, your vet may prescribe an antibiotic, unless she is already on an antibiotic post-spay.

    This is not normal, and I would take Pepper back into a vet immediately. This blood in the urine could be due a concurrent UTI, and she would need antibiotics to treat this. Using a physical exam, routine blood tests, and a urinalysis, the vet can confirm the presence of a UTI, and can prescribe the needed medication to treat it.

    Yes, that is concerning. It could be Luna has a UTI or bladder stones causing the blood in her urine. If she appears otherwise healthy and happy, eats and drinks plenty, you can wait until tomorrow morning to see a vet. If she appears lethargic, ill or distressed, or if the urine appears very bloody, then she should be seen by a vet ASAP. Feed her wet/canned food, add water to it, and make sure she drinks a lot of water to help flush the bladder. Best of luck.
