My dog scraped his testicles and now they are red with some blood on them. What can I put on it?

Place an [e-collar](https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/well-and-good-e-collar) (cone) on him right away to prevent further licking or scratching. If the wound is superficial, I suggest gently cleansing the area with a diluted betadine or chlorhexidine (Hibiclens) solution. Applying a warm washcloth 2-3 times a day for five minutes at a time may provide some relief from itching and discomfort. Afterwards, dry the area throughly. If there is no sign of improvement in a few days or if your dog develops a fever, loses his appetite, start [vomiting](https://www.petcoach.co/article/vomiting-in-dogs) and/or having [diarrhea](https://www.petcoach.co/article/diarrhea-in-dogs) then have him physically examined by your veterinarian right away. Additional symptoms that should also be addressed by your veterinarian include redness, swelling, discharge or bleeding.

Hello , thank you for using PetCoach. The testicles do look red/irritated. He may very well have scraped them. You will need to put a cone collar on him to prevent him from licking them. You can also purchase this hydrogel spray (linked below) and apply that twice daily. It should heal easily with this regimen. I know everyone hates the cone collar but if he starts licking the skin it will not heal no matter what you apply on it. ( https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/contech-procone-soft-recovery-collar-1558315 ) ( https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/3-oz-3-fl-oz-hot-spot-antimicr-2877113 ) I'm not sure if the PetArmor caused the diarrhea but it is possible. Just as a side note, that is not the best flea/tick prevention. I would suggest you get something better and safer either from your vet or you can get something over the counter like this Seresto collar. Your dog needs to be seen by a vet to assess the type and extent of injury. In the meantime, I suggest cleaning it 3-4 times daily with a mild antibacterial soap and water, following that with flushing the wound with an iodine solution diluted with water, a warm compress (a damp washcloth works fine) for 5 or ten minutes, or as long as your pet will tolerate it, and finishing with antibiotic ointment such as Neosporin that does NOT contain hydrocortisone (steroids slow healing). If your dog is able to reach it to lick, you may need to get an e-collar from a pet store for him to wear until it is healed.
