Why is my dog shivering and panting during early pregnancy stages?

My dog is about 28 days pregnant and has episodes.of.shivering and sometimes panting with it..what could this be??

Be sure to continue to monitor your pet as closely as possible and keep a close relationship with your local Veterinarian. There are many complications that can arise during pregnancy. This shivering and panting may be due to exertion. You'll want to be sure to provide her with plenty quiet time to rest and a very comfortable place lay down.

I strongly recommend you seek an urgent vet check to assess her health and that of her puppies and to rule out any fever or signs of infection as heavy panting is not normally associated with mid-pregnancy

I think my pregnant dog is in her first stage of labor. she is panting and shaking but she isn’t nesting? why could that be?

Hello, congratulations on your new coming puppies. Its possible that she is beginning to have signs of initiating the first part of labor. During this time, their temperature may decrease and they may shiver. Keep an eye for any evidence of active contractions. If you are seeing contractions without production of a puppy that lasts longer then 2 hours, then she should be evaluated by her veterinarian immediately. If she seems lethargy, weak, and is not interested in food or water then she should be evaluated sooner. If she does deliver her puppies on her own, you may assist in cleanig the puppies and drying them so that they may begin to nurse shortly after birth. Hope this helps and best of luck.

No, this isn't normal at this stage of pregnancy, and it could be a signal that something is wrong. It could also be that Sweetpea is hot if you are living in area where it's very warm, or she could be painful. I would put her in a cool area with a fan to see if that helps, but if she keeps panting and acting restless, I would take her into a vet immediately for a health check. It's very important to have any potential problems with a pregnant dog checked out right away for both her heath and the health of the puppies.

My dog have been panting for over a couple hours and shaking and whining. She's very pregnant. Due any day....even Now but there haven't been any signs of puppy's being born. She sounds like she in is pain. It's been like this since like 11pm

If 18 hours pass and she has not progressed to the second stage of labor (contractions and giving birth), get her into a vet immediately. My bitch is 43 days gestation and is panting quite a bit. Quite concerned as I don't remember her doing this with her first litter.

I believe my dog had an unplanned breeding session on Aug. 24th or 25th 2018 and it is now Sep. 19th, 2018. She hs been shaking & panting quite hard for the past 3 days now and we are waiting on a paycheck to be able to take her in to a vet tomorrow.
This panting and shaking isn't a typical sign of pregnancy, and I would be concerned that Nala is in pain causing the shaking and panting. Taking her into the vet tomorrow is a good idea. Best of luck.

My dog is now 62 days pregnant she has started panting on and off she was shivering last night how long till pups are due Her temp all day on the 14.4.19 was 37.4
Sorry, I should have put the temperature in Celcius when I answered your last question. Once it drops below 37.7C, the dog should have puppies within 24 hours. If it's been almost 24 hours since Sasha's temperature drop, you will need to have her checked out by a vet now. I can't be more specific about when the puppies will come beyond that, it's impossible for me to say without seeing her in person. Best of luck.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! From what you are describing, there are 3 main possibilities. First, Charlie may be pregnant and about to have the pups. Second, she could be having pseudopregnancy, a condition where her body produces hormones as if she were pregnant though she has not conceived. Third, she could be having a condition called pyometra which is an infection within the utetus. There are other things that could be happening, but these three are by far the most likely. As pyometra is a very serious condition and can be life-threatening, I would recommend having Charlie examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible, preferably tonight by an emergency veterinarian. If you cannot get to an emergency vet tonight, go see your regular vet first thing in the morning. I hope this helps and that Charlie doesn't have anything too serious going on!

I would recommend taking her to your veterinarian to have her examined. It's possible that she has gastroenteritis, an infection, or any number of other diseases. Your veterinarian can take her temperature and may recommend an ultrasound to check the puppies' heart rates and make sure they are not in distress. I typically recommend feeding a high quality puppy food to pregnant dogs, but your veterinarian might recommend trying a higher calorie therapeutic diet. Good luck!
