How do you clean carpets when pet has hookworms and defecated on them?

You don't have to worry about the carpets, the eggs cannot survive long in the environment. Just use a normal hoover and a carpet cleaner.

    Hookworms are not very viable in carpet to begin with. High heat and regular cleaning products should do the trick. Also Frontline spray (very effective at killing parasites) can be used to treat the area first, before using your carpet shampooing products. Keeping your pet on monthly heart worm prevention (which also has intestinal worm medicine in it too) is the best way to prevent re-infestation of your pet. Also hookworms are not readily transferred to people if you practice standard hygiene procedures, as mentioned above.
