Poor pup! Diarrhea with no obvious cause can definitely be frustrating. If no parasites were seen on her fecal exam and she's acting normal otherwise, then it may be a food allergy or intolerance issue - I have seen this a number of times in puppies with diarrhea who tested negative for all the usual suspects, but did very well with a diet change. You can try feeding her plain boiled chicken and white rice for the next 3-5 days to see if the diarrhea resolves - if so, then she may need to stay on a special, easily digestible diet such as Hills i/d or Royal Canin GI diet.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor May! Causes of diarrhea in a puppy are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, toxin ingestion, reaction to a new treat/food.human food or an allergy to her current food. I would start a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lb until 2 normal stools. You can also start a probiotic like Purina Fortiflora or Nutramax Proviable, I would also have her stool check for parasites. If she is not improved by mid next week she needs to be seen. Good luck!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Duma I don't know how old she is but babies get dehydrated much quicker than adults dogs. With that severe of diarrhea I recommend that you take her to the Veterinarian sooner than later. Causes of diarrhea in young dogs are: intestinal parasites, viral infection, eating something gross, intestinal foreign bodies. If she is not vomiting and eating you can start a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Feed about 1 cup per 20lbs per day. But I recommend she see a Veterinarian. Good luck

Aw poor Ella! She is super cute! Because she is a puppy there is a good chance a GI parasite is causing her diarrhea. Other possible causes are that she ate something that didn't agree with her or she has a viral infection. If Ella is acting normally aside from the diarrhea you may want to try offering a bland diet of boiled chicken and sweet potato or rice to see if this settles her stomach. However, if the diarrhea continues or Ella starts acting sick in any other way (vomiting, lethargy or not wanting to eat) she really needs to see your veterinarian. Remember to bring a stool sample along with you so your veterinarian can check for GI parasites. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and I hope Ella is feeling better soon!
