Can I use hydrocortisone cream on my dog?

Yes, you can use it, but if you think your dog has an infection I would not recommend using it. I would also not recommend using it for more than a week as this cream can cause thinning of the skin which can result in fragile and broken skin.

    Because hydrocortisone cream was developed for humans, it is not approved by the FDA to use on pets. It can be used off label on pets only when prescribed by a vet. This is because it is not always safe to use on pets, and only your veterinarian can determine if it is safe to use on Lucky. I do not recommend using it on Lucky until you have an appointment with your vet first. Your vet can determine if it is an appropriate medication to use on her, and will give you specific instructions for use. Please take her in to see your vet, and do not use the medication on her until after you have seen your vet and gotten their approval and a prescription for it.
