My bird's voice is hoarse. What could be the cause besides illness?

I've a bird that's call has slightly gone hoarse. Could there be other reasons aside from illness to cause the change?

Seeds, seed husks, other food particles or dust can get stuck in the syrinx (voicebox)and affect his "voice". Have him examined by your vet if he doesn't improve, becomes lethargic or stops eating.

    When birds lose their voice, it almost is always means something is wrong, and that is usually an illness. Any kind of physical malady — an infection, inflammation, metabolic disorder, or trauma — could cause your bird to decrease its vocalizations or stop chattering altogether. Generally the first sign of a sick bird is a change in behavior, and commonly the behavior change is that the bird stops talking and vocalizing. Aspergillosis (a fungus) is one of the most common respiratory diseases that causes a change in vocalization. It may cause the bird’s voice to suddenly turn raspy or hoarse. The best way to know for sure what is causing your bird to lose it's voice is to take Olly into your vet for an exam.
