My dog ate a small piece of ceramic. What if I can't see a vet?

My dog ate a piece of ceramic off a sculpture about 1/2 inch long, and a quarter of an inch wide, I can't get to a vets right now what should I do?

This will likely exit the body with feces. It is not really big enough to cause trouble in a dog the sixe of a Shetland Sheep dog. I would monitor his poop and check it for the next three or four days. You will probably find it. If your dog starts having diarrhea or/and vomiting then you will need to take him to a vet as it might have gotten stuck somewhere. The same is valid if his stool turns black, or if there is frank blood in the stool.
