There are no statistics on parvo deaths or on how many dogs with parvo die because parvo is not a "reportable" disease in veterinary medicine. Veterinarians are typically required to report instances of diseases that animals can pass to humans, such as rabies, but they are not required to report parvo case numbers and outcomes, because it is a disease of canids. And there is no central agency, like the CDC in human medicine, that tracks this information. Therefore we are only able to estimate the mortality percentage based on our own experience with these cases.

It is impossible to determine how many dogs succumb to parvovirus daily. In puppies, the mortality rate may be as high as 80% even with aggressive treatment. In adult dogs, there is a better chance of survival.

With the appropriate treatment under direct veterinary supervision and hospitalization, patients suffering from parvovirus have a fair to good chance to survival. While some patients do succumb to the illness, most getting the best possible treatment will pull through though it can take 7-10 days in the hospital at times. These facts and figures are from my experiences practicing in my geographic region. Facts may be different in India, which might make a local vet more capable of answering your question with greater precision. I hope Winter pulls through!

Parvo virus is very serious and each case is different. Some dogs survive, while others don't despite our best efforts. Please ensure he is under the care of a veterinarian and he may even need to be hospitalized. I'm sorry you are going through this and I wish you the best.
