Why is my female dog's vagina hanging out again after vet visit?

Will is my dog vagina hanging out, I took her to the vet, they put it back, but a few weeks later, it was hanging out again.

This is called a "vaginal prolapse" and is common in young intact females. It usually happens right before or during the dog's heat cycle. This is a hormonal problem associated with an overabundance of estrogen and usually, spaying the dog will remedy this. It usually happens right before or during the dog's heat cycle.

Hi and thanks for your request. this is a vaginal prolapse and ideally should be seen immediately by your local vet. Keep the area humid with a wet tissue/swab. An immediate check up is essentially to reposition the vagina .

There are several possibilities.but I assume It could be a vaginal prolapse, or even a bladder prolapse. If it only happens during her heat cycle then it is likely hormonally responsive. My 18 month old female german shepard/husky mix is on her heat cycle but her vulva is extremely swollen and is hanging out a good bit is this normal ...skin seems to be dry and she is bleeding not alot but the flow amount differs through out the day
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Athena. Your pictures are a bit fuzzy, but she does appear to have tissue protruding from her vulva. This may be a vaginal prolapse. She will need to see her veterinarian to confirm this suspicion. If this is the case, it will likely repeat with each subsequent heat cycle unless she is spayed. In the meantime, prevent her from licking the area. I hope this information helps!

It could be vaginal hyperplasia or a vaginal or cervical prolapse. If she can still urinate, it is not a medical emergency, but it will need to be addressed by a vet. If she cannot urinate, then it is a medical emergency and she needs immediate veterinary care. She will likely need to be spayed and may need the tissue tacked back into place depending on the diagnosis.

I am assuming you are referring to your dog's vagina. It appears that she may be going into heat. It also looks like a hypoplastic or recessed vulva (the female has large skin folds that are covering the vulva). This condition can be a cause for perivulvar dermatitis and urinary tract infections. This is why it is advisable to schedule an appointment with your veterinarian for an exam.

No, this is not normal at all, and it will not go away. It sounds like Magic has a vaginal prolapse, and she has to see a vet for this immediately. It needs to be replaced into it's correct anatomical position, and given that it's been out of her vaginal for a month, it absolutely has to be corrected now. Please take Magic into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her now.

My dog has just finished her heat cycle (the fertile phase) and since yesterday her vagina looks like this, what could it be ? It has never looked like that before. she is a 7 yr old pitbull.
This looks like a vaginal prolapse. That is when the vagina turns inside out. This is very swollen and needs to be lubricated and then manipulated back into place. You can clean it gently with a warm wet cloth, then apply KY Jelly to it or Vaseline to protect the sensitive skin from injury, then I'd bring her in tomorrow morning to get this examined and treated. My dog has something coming out of her vagina. Is this normal?
This is not normal and could be a variety of causes. We can have a vaginal hyperplasia (especially in unspayed females), tumors in the vagina, hermaphrodite dogs with an enlarged clitoris, and prolapses of vagina and uterus. I would make an appointment to see your vet and if she is licking at the area put an e-collar on her until she is seen to prevent self-trauma. Treatment will depend on the cause. Best of luck!

It could be a vaginal prolase of a vaginal tumor. You should take Gracie to your vet right away as there are a number of concerns for these condition. First of all, some dogs may have problems to urinate, which is a serious emergency. Secondly, some dogs want to bite the protruding 'mass' and by doing that they will make it bleed and introduce infection. Vaginal prolapse is not always a surgical condition (it often responds to medical treatment) while vaginal tumor should be surgically removed.
