My dog is restless, paranoid, dizzy, big eyes, ears back. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Pinscher | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 3 months old

My dog won't lay still and is acting really paranoid. She keeps looking around the room like she's dizzy. Her eyes are big and her ears are pinned back. What is wrong with her?

Is there any chance she could have ingested [marijuana](https://www.petcoach.co/article/what-should-i-do-if-my-pet-eats-marijuana)? These symptoms are typical of this kind of [intoxication](https://www.petcoach.co/dog/condition/marijuana-toxicosis). Obviously it could be a behavioral issue as well, maybe something is causing her some [stress](https://www.petcoach.co/article/5-surprising-ways-stress-can-impact-your-pet). It could also be a neurological problem or other toxicity. Monitor her and if symptoms persist or worsen, consider a physical exam with your veterinarian or at the nearest veterinary ER.

He will probably be OK, but he will probably show symptoms of Marijuana toxicity such as lethargy, altered response to visual or verbal stimuli, injected (blood engorged) conjunctiva and behavior changes. If the symptoms are quite noticeable or severe I would recommend taking Joey to the vet in order to get him supportive treatment.
